February 24th, 2024, Snowshoeing at Gold Creek Pond

Have you always wanted to try? The location we go to is just off I-90 at the pass. GREAT for beginners. The parking pass is $25 per day per vehicle or $130 for the season. We only go up on good weather days and never if chains are required. Emails will go out in the days just prior to this event confirming if and when we gather. Depending on the weather forecast that week. Enough members have snowshoes that we can lend extra sets to others in need.

This trail is so popular that the trail is very compacted and if the temperatures are below freezing. You don't really need snowshoes. You can just to the walk with good hiking boots and poles. But if you want to go off that beaten path at all, or the day is sunny & warm, softening the snow, you will NEED snowshoes.

At the Hyak Sno-park kiosk day and season parking passes can be purchased. There's a heated relatively clean bathroom. New this year REI has a kiosk snowshoe can be rented for $20 a day.

The trailhead is just on the northside of the Hyak Exit #54 on I-90. Link to the event location: Gold Creek Pond Snowshoe — Washington Trails Association (wta.org)

Because of the expensive parking pass required and road conditions We ALL will meet at Issaquah Transit center. Organize ourselves then follow each other up to the trailhead.

Here's a link to the carpooling meeting point.

Do you Cross Country ski? If you have gear and want to go with others out for an enjoyable glide through the forests?  We typically have a group that can go with 48 hours' notice. To get in on those emails you must inform Brian ahead of time and he'll send out an invite if the weather is looking good in the lead up to a weekend.

Cassidy and Arcaro Boxing have invited us back for another gathering of tips and tricks to make dopamine, fight our PD, and build strength. This would be 90 minutes +/- class where groups rotate stations. They're located on Capitol Hill. We did this in January of 2023. Here's a link to our website photos to check out.
